Verse:

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16 (NRSV)

Thought:

Documents communicate and tell stories.  Documents are thoughts which are shared.  The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States of America, and the Bill of Rights are core documents of our country.  The Bible, non-canonical writings from the early church and the creeds of the church point to who we were, are and will be.  These documents also tell a story.  While these tell a finite same story, they are understood differently by many, open to interpretation and therefore lead to questions as to what is right, what is true and what is faithful.  Then there is another document, you.  That is right, we too are documents, living, breathing and changing.

Hear the Good News, as we are living breathing documents, we are called to share our story of Jesus in our life.  Moreover, as living breathing documents, we are called to interact, not merely be read.  Through service, the life we live, the love we give and the hope we share, our story become infinite.  As living documents we have the opportunity to help other understand misunderstanding.  We are not a closed book, but a creation, still being created.

Prayer:

Gracious God, You have created me with love and care, breathing into me the breath of life.  Please let me share this life with others.  As a case study of who You are in my life, leave no doubt to others about Your presence and care in my life.  Help me to shine in this world of darkness, bringing to light the grace You offer to all. Thank You for all you have done in my life and all you will continue to do, for I come to You through Jesus Christ, my Lord, my Savior! Amen.

Grace & Peace
