Verse:

"For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved."

Roman 10:10 (NRSV)

Thought:

You walk out to your car, open the door and turn the ignition. It starts and you drive off to your destination. With regularity you notice your gas gauge, and, thanks to the window sticker you know when your oil needs to be changed. From time to time, you might even glance at your spare tire. Driving requires not only basic skills, but also the responsibility to keep up the necessary maintenance. Failure to do so can be troublesome. But I ask you, how often do you check your spare? The spare tire. That only form of hope when you get a flat out in the middle of Nowhere, TX or Opps, New Mexico? Without a spare that works, you are in fact, in trouble.

Hear the Good News, God reminds us not to neglect Him, He calls us to have and live by faith. As we develop and keep a relationship with Him, He is there. That spare tire, it does not drive the car, no tire drives the car, but it is there. Fuel, it powers the engine. Oil lubricates the pistons, allowing for power. By themselves, they do nothing, but in a car, they do everything. Faith, it drives us. The word, it points us in the right direction, and our relationship with God keeps us in His peace. You never know how much you need God, until you need God. You never think about your spare tire unless you need it. A spare tire relationship is not what God wants from us, from you, from me.

Please keep my sister in your prayers as she undergoes test to identify and unconfirmed neurological illness. Her name is Michelle.

Prayer:

Gracious God, help us to have an open and vibrant relationship with you. Help nurture within me a faith that drives and inspires. Strengthen my relationship with you that directs my thoughts always to You. Be with Michelle and her family, that they know, without a doubt, of Your presence and power. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
