E-votional – He Picked Up The Check
March 16, 2001
Verse:
Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat!  Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."

Thought:
The room is dark and the Hostess meet you at the front door.  After guiding and directing you to the best seat in the house, you sit down for the best and most fulfilling meal of your life.  Not only is the taste outstanding, but it is balanced and well presented.  They serve the best Italian coffee as you push the plate back, and you realize you are not miserably stuffed, rather totally satisfied.  A small dessert finds it way to your table.  Amazing.  Then the check comes, as you look, as you read it, you panic.  Across the table your guest reaches to you, places his hand on your shoulder and takes the ticket from you.  The price is paid.
Hear the Good News, God offers us the best for our life.  Moreover, He has taken the problem of price out of the situation, as the price has been paid.  When we thing about value, it usually entails getting the most for our money.  For some it means getting the best for our money.  It really means both, the most and the best for the price we pay.  Nothing depresses me more than going to a buffet, getting my fill but feeling like I was not satisfied at all.  The quality, just not there.  Life can be very much the same thing.  We seek out ways to fulfill the inner longing, but most attempts come with a price.  Vices, are considered negative because they can cause us to lose a little bit of ourselves or our health each time we get caught up in them.  But Christ, He is offered to us, and the price has been paid, the offering made.  Psalm 55 reminds us that the grace offered to us can't be bought, but it is there, for us, if we but accept it.

Prayer:
The aroma, the presentation and oh, the taste of Your grace Lord, it is wonderful.  Lord, You satisfy my heart, my soul.  Day after day I seek ways to satisfy my life and my love, yet You are all I truly need.  Remind me to share the grace and love You offer to me, for I am thankful of this gift.  Thank You for all You have done in my life, and all You will continue to do, through Christ our Lord I pray.  Amen.
