Verse:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John 1:1 (NRSV)

Thought:

As a child I remember spending hours with Legos. Building fortresses, houses, cars, planes and helicopters. In the beginning it was rehabilitation after the loss of my finger. My Dr., whom I will never forget brought one of these small little boxes each day. One day it was a car, the next, an ambulance, the next a helicopter. It was something that was necessary to do with two hands, even if one was bandaged, splinted or injured. With this help, the use of my hand soon returned and though there were some limitations, and for that matter still are, progress was not only being made but a new interest was being born. Years later I still played with Legos, building with playfulness and creativity. Something happened you see, there was a connection with the Legos, healing and enjoyment, maybe the word is not enjoyment, but fulfillment. Whatever the case, something happened.

Hear the Good News, God gives to us, not Legos, but The Logos(greek), The Word. It is through the Word Incarnate, Jesus Christ, that we grow, we recover and are formed. It is through the activity of the Holy Spirit in our life that we are shaped into who it is God has called us to be. Piece by piece, God puts us together, through the work of the Holy Spirit in our life, to resemble humanity at it's best, an image of Christ for the world. But How? To begin with we walk through Scripture, knowing more than just the words, but The Word. First and foremost, the Word is the truth. Truth does not change, understanding does, we do, attitudes do, addresses do, but the truth remains the same, and this is the case with scripture. While we journey through scripture We must allow the Holy Spirit to guide our hearts and thoughts in our understanding of God and scripture. We must read the truth in light of our life, because we are talking about the Logos, not Legos, The Word, not words, Christ, Incarnate. For me, while Legos are good Logos is God.

Prayer:

Gracious God, thank You for Your Word within my life. Help me to walk in Your ways, allowing the Holy Spirit to Guide and Shape me. In my life, Create and transform me into someone who resembles Christ for the world. Thank You for all You have done and all You continue to do.  In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Grace & Peace
