E-votional - New Life
April 23, 2002
Verse:

"So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God."

Colossians 3:1 (NRSV)

Thought:

We will call him Travis. Sunday night I met Travis. Four weeks out of prison, Travis was found the something he had been looking for. His search had brought him to steal from those who loved him. His desire for the unknown took away each and every freedom he took for granted, not to mention the freedoms he took advantage of. When he was incarcerated, he marked two days in the back of his mind; the day he went into prison and the day he was to get out. These two days became the most important and memorable days of his life. Then came April 21, 2002. This was the day he was able to name what he was searching for; Jesus Christ and his grace.

Hear the Good News, as we accept Christ in to our lives, we are raised form the old and given new life. This new life helps us to put the old things of life behind us and seek the life and things of God. Our challenge is to face each day knowing the choices we make reflect our effort and commitment to God. Life is full of choices, my prayer for you and myself is that our choices are faithfully and appropriately made.

Prayer:

Gracious God, new life, this is what you bring to me, this is what you brought to me. As I confessed those things which separated me from you, asked forgiveness and asked Jesus to be the center of my life and my heart, You accepted me as Your own and our relationship was reconciled. Free me from those things and habits in my life that place you in the background and build up the elements of my life that brings you forward. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
