E-votional - Responding
January 17, 2002
Verse:

"But when God, who had set me apart before I was born and called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him among the Gentiles, . . ."

Galatians 1:15-16 (NRSV)

Thought:

Parrish Chapman. A regular guy. Goes to work says hello to the customers and manages his stores. After the day is over, he goes home. Regular Guy. Regular until, until he heard something from Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks Basketball Club. Parrish heard an opportunity, saw a moment that he could either respond to, or let pass. Timing demanded quick action. What would he do?

Hear the Good News, when you hear the call from God it is time to respond. Many times, we hear of opportunities, and before we act, the time, the opportunity is up. Paul, after he received his calling, and knew in his heart the origin of the call, he responded, he acted. How many Dairy Queens are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? And Parrish was the one, the only one who responded to Mr. Cuban's comments. When you hear the call, respond. I believe it to be worth it! Great job and congrats Parrish.

Prayer:

Gracious Father, I am listening, now I ask that you give me the courage to respond. My focus is on You, let me respond to the opportunities that You place before me. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for I ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
