E-votional - The Revival
April 16, 2002
Verse:

"While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light."

John 12:36 (NRSV)

Thought:

Renewal. New life. Refocused. The shouts of praise and fervor fill the room. Through the sweat and passionate energy, your experience is one of a new found commitment to Christ. Surrounded by a crowd who have had a similar experience, you know that you can do and be that person that God has called you to be. You are ready to conquer the world for Christ. Then you walk out of the sanctuary, into a world that is not that different from the Roman Coliseum.

Hear the Good News, Christ knows our struggle to live out our faith in a world that is not and has not been ready for Christ. In fact, as He went to the garden to pray before He was betrayed, His prayers were focused on you, and they were focused on me. We are to be in the world, not of it, just as Christ, though He was not of the world, He was in it and is in it, redeeming it. Some of my friends are in a revival now, they have been all week. Within the shelter and protection of the walls of the church, they hear the Good News, they receive The Light. It is what you do with The Light after, after the words, he sweat, the tears and the passion that makes a difference in the world.

Prayer:

Gracious God, children of The Light, this is who we are. We seek Your Light and Your revival in our life. And though we are in the world, we are not of the world. Please, keep us in Your care all of our days. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
