Verse:

David was in great danger; for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in spirit for their sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God."

1 Samuel 30:6 (NRSV)

Thought:

When things go wrong or bring trouble we are to seek God for strength, aren't we?  When we find our self in a cave of despair or feel like the world is falling down around us, we are to seek God as our refuge.  But this is usually what we tell people, not what we practice.  Sometimes, it just does not seem to work.

Hear the Good News, we are to hold fast to the simple fact that God is there for us.  Faith.  Faith is what carried David past Goliath.  Faith enabled David to endure the conflict with Saul.  Faith gave David strength as he lost his best friend, Jonathan.  Faith is what allowed David to be in a real, authentic relationship with God.  It is this faith and this relationship we are to seek as we walk and live our life.

Prayer:

Gracious God, bring to be a faith and help me to live within this faith to be strong in any time of trouble or trial. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
