E-votional - Vertigo
November 7, 2001
Verse:
"Their heads were spinning; they couldn’t make head or tail of any of it. They talked back and forth, confused: “What’s going on here?” Others joked, “They’re drunk on cheap wine.”

Acts 2:12 (The Message)

Thought:

Everything is spinning and you feel as though you do not have a grasp on your balance. Once you get your bearings, all you want to do is be still. It reminds us of the beauty in the simplistic Psalm, "be still and know that I am God." It knows no prejudice. Vertigo can happen to anyone at any time. Vertigo can happen when you have a problem with your inner ear and sinuses. Vertigo has visited me for the past couple of days.

Hear the Good News, as our world is spinning, we can do one of two things, look for God or look for something else. At the beginning of the church, The Holy Spirit came and dwelt among the eleven and there were those who recognize the power of the spirit and then there were those who did or could not recognize the power and presence of the spirit. Confusion hits us in many different directions and the result has different effects. The thing is this, confusion or not, we should always remember that God is with us and can make our world stop spinning, but only if we let Him. As for me and my vertigo, I am thankful for a product known as "Antivert". But when my world around me spins due to the stresses and surprises, I know that God is better than any antivert medication anywhere!

Prayer:

Gracious Father, we live in a time that can be confusing and even problematic, please, I pray, help me to overcome any stresses that come my way. As you are a steadying influence on my life, let me share Your presence with others. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for I ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
