Can You Handle The Truth

VERSE:

Jesus told the people who had faith in Him, "If you keep on obeying what I have said, you truly are my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

-- John 8:31-32

THOUGHT:

Truth, Jack Nicholson's character in "A Few Good Men" suggests we can't handle the truth, and it seems as though most of the time we can't. Yet the truth is what we seem to all be seeking. What is true? What is real? Who am I?

Hear the Good News, there is one truth that is purer than we might ever fully understand, and that is the relationship God has with us, through Jesus the Christ, the Chosen One. The truth in Jesus is this, He is the Son of God, the gift of God's unfailing grace. He defeated sin and death for us, that we might know God and a fulfilled life through God. The truth is that God loves us more than would can ever imagine, only experience, and then that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Do you want to know what the truth is? Well, it seems so did Pilate. "What is the truth," he asks. And Jesus stands there. And JESUS stands there. And Jesus STANDS there. And Jesus stands THERE. Can we handle the truth? What would that mean for your life, right now, this very minute? For the rest of your life?

PRAYER:

Holy and Righteous God, You have given me, us the Truth. Help my eyes to see You. Help my heart to know you, for I seek Your face. I want to know You. Give me a heart that is transformed by Your truth, Your Love and Your presence. As You STAND, THERE, let me handle this truth in my life.

In Jesus' name. Amen.
