VERSE:
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

THOUGHT:
How great do you think you are?  Kevin? Fred? Jay? Paul? Mike? Steve? Blair? Don?  These guys, friends of mine, are some of the most confident people I know, but their secret, and reason their last names are not mentioned is because they are also some of the humblest people I know.  What about you?  How do people know you?  They will go out of their way to help another, regardless of what is going on with them.  Did I also mention their success?  Yes, it is there too.  I tend think their success is due to hard work, but also because of the way they treat and relate to other people.  I don't see selfishness or vanity in their Lives.
You want to make a difference in the world?  Put everyone else before you.  Not such an easy task, but in the process, you help to change the world and in the process you change yourself.  Christ calls us to selfless discipleship.  You figure out what that means.(hint, where is Christ on the scale of person of worth and where did he place us?  Where did he place the thief on the cross?).

PRAYER:
Almighty God, thank you for adopting me as your child and making me holy and precious to you.  Please help me to see myself as you do, and then, as one of your precious children, empower me to serve others in ways that help them see your glory.  In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
