VERSE:

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

-- Matthew 6:27

THOUGHT:

Warts, headaches, stomach aches, intestinal problems and not to mention a loss of memory, all of these things we add to our life when we worry. So, what can you add to your life through worry, here you go.

Hear the Good News, God walks with us and brings us a peace that is all surpassing, yet we have a tendency to discard this gift in favor of anxiety. We seek to control the uncontrollable, to pull in the reins of a beast that is out of our reach. And even sometimes, we try to create anxiety to "help" us work more efficiently. But worse of all, we often let ourselves get preoccupied with worrisome and inconsequential things. As you probably know, this gets us no where. Rather, the only place it takes us to is a place empty of grace and of joy.

PRAYER:

Gracious Father, thank you. Thank you keeping my feet on the ground and placing limitation on my life. For without limits, I may try to do more than my life would ever allow. But remarkably enough, with those limits you greatly strengthen my ability to reach farther than I could ever reach by myself. You have helped me to rely on others and to share what I know with others. Thank you for pouring your grace and numerous blessings into my life. Forgive me, Lord, when I do not count these blessings enough, and begin to worry how I might acquire more or fear for losing those I have. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
