E-votional - Keep Growing
October 11, 2002
Verse:

Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would not have sin. But now that you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains."

John 9:41 (NRSV)

Thought:

She runs around the house singing "NO". It seems to one of the words she has really mastered. She knows that it means "no", but it seems to have more meaning to her. She is almost two. Though she needs her diaper changed, she runs at the mention of changing her diaper. She is almost two. Most of the time, she goes down for a nap and for bed-time with a great deal of ease, but there are moments when it is a true challenge. She is almost two. She shakes hands with strangers, says hello and good-bye to everyone. Her kisses know no boundaries and everyone is eligible. She is almost Two. She is not Four, not Three, not Seven or Eleven. Casey is a Two Year Old acting Two.

Hear the Good News, through Christ, we grow in our faith and into our faith. Some may struggle where others do not. Each person is different. Prayer, service, presence and benevolence are particular areas we can see a difference. For one it may be more natural to have a strong prayer life, where service might be another's strength. Each person grows and develops at a different rate. Churches and ministries are also similar in this way. But from time to time we turn away from growth and, knowing better, we revert to the "immature" Christian of yesterday. Never be so naive to think you have arrived in your faith, that your growth is complete or done.

Prayer:

Gracious Father, remind me I still have quite a lot of growth ahead. I understand I may become complacent in my own growth. I also understand I have a great deal of innocence in my heart, please touch my life in such a way that the innocence and my faith will be a extension of Your love and grace all of my days. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
