VERSE:

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

-- Matthew 7:7-8

THOUGHT:

Each time we "ask" for something, we are setting our self up. You see, going to someone and asking for something from someone is, in a sense, a form of allowing yourself to be vulnerable. One might even say it is an act of submission. " I realize you have this power, this authority, would you please . . ."

Hear the Good News, we never have to be worried or anxious as we seek to be received by Jesus. Jesus promises us that when we seek him out, we find out that all along, it is He that has been knocking at our door. He seeks to be in relationship with us. It could even be that we have been staring a the door of our life for so long, listening to the knocking for such a long time, we forgot that we were in the house and Jesus was seeking to enter our house, our life.

PRAYER:

Father, allow me always to hear Your knocking. Also, help me to be not only a gracious guest to the people who enter my life, but a gracious host as well. In Jesus' name I seek you. Amen.
