VERSE:

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

THOUGHT:

To be consumed with our own self is what happens when we fall out of relationship with others. It can be irrational and in a sense, satisfying. Another way of living that is also irrational and satisfying is to be focused on others. But this, like self centered behavior, can cause us to lose an understanding of who we are and who we are in relationship with others and God.

Hear the Good News, the way Jesus "touched" others was more than in a physical way, but he touched and changes lives by the way He is in relationship with us. Further, He implores us to reach out to others, sharing His Good News, news that there is hope for the future, that you are loved and to care for another is just as important as being cared for. We are called to lose our self for Him, and in doing so, we will find our self. I don't think He was calling us to do this in some neurotic way, but rather to love one another and be in a good and right relationship with those we know.

Sure this is a challenge, but challenges are to be met. If you need motivation, just realize that Jesus has sought you and loves you, even at your worst, laughs and celebrates with you at your best, comforts you at your lowest, but most of all, gives all He is about for you. You could even say He went out of his way, to climb a tree, all the while looking out to see your face, then as eye contact is made, points to you, says, "I love you." Why not share some of that contagious love with others?!

PRAYER:

Almighty Father, I have been touched by Jesus. I have seen his face, captured the look of love and will keep it in my heart of my days. Please give me the ability to share that love and joy with others. Let me use this gift of love to touch those around me with Your goodness and grace. In Jesus' name I pray.

Amen.
