VERSE:

"Be careful not to do your `acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

THOUGHT:

Watching some of the old re-runs, I am surprised at the level of service the wife was expected to perform for the husband. Have a cocktail waiting his arrival, the wash, it is to be done. Ironing, supposed to be perfect. The meals, they were outrageous. What a legacy for women today. Now they are supposed to work, in addition to the other, "woman's work". All this is to say, the work, or acts were done for some reason. The reasons, we could argue over this forever, but According to Christ, there is only one reason to serve God. We serve from our hearts.

Hear the Good News, Christ calls us to serve with our hearts. We are to do those things that God calls us to do, not because others might see it and find favor with us, that is not to be our motivation. Our motivation comes from the all encompassing love that is poured out to us through Jesus. Rest assured that God is aware of what you do and how you do it. Just allow God to use you.

PRAYER:

Loving God, use me to do Your bidding. Help me to see what You need. Inspire me to lift up another. Motivate me to faithful to You and Your calling. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
