When things are gong wrong or it seems like you just are not getting a fair break, it can be easy to lose hope and to give up. During the cold season it is easy to get into a funk because you are feeling poorly. As the holidays approach, and we prepare to see family, it can be difficult for those not able to spend that time with family. Even during a time of economic challenge, when we want to shower or friends and family with gifts, but can't afford to do so, this can be trying and lead to a feeling of failure and disappointment.
Hear the Good News, even during the hardest of times, there is a beauty to be found. Sometimes being sick allows the needed rest and family time you would not otherwise get. In the absence of some family, you are able to appreciate the family you do get to spend time with. And during an economic time such as this, we are able to get creative with the show of love and friendship we have with one another.
Ruth, after losing her husband, decided to make the most of her situation and attached herself to the mother of her lost husband. Naomi, though she did not quite understand this move, received it in love and cherished her daughter-in-law for it. Naomi then helped her to find food and even another husband. This husband, Boaz offered his part in bringing to us all a wonderful and creative gift in the midst of tragedy and loss. Ruth and Boaz brought for us Obed, who was the father of Jesse, who was the father of David, and well, the rest is history. History filled with Grace and love.
Prayer:Gracious Father, we can get so caught up in the loses of our life that we fail to see the opportunity. Help me to see the wonderful options in life. Help me to give thanks to you and all that you do. Help me to leave all of my worries because you do in fact care for me. Thank You for all that You have done in my life and all You will continue to do, for I ask this through Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
