E-votional – Angels In Our Midst
March 13, 2001
Verse:
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it."

Thought:
Standing in the rain we talk.  The timing could not have been more inconvenient.  It is cold, dreary outside and There are things to do, people to see and we are running behind.  Casual conversation?  Is this the basis behind the time I am losing.  Then, out of the blue, "may I do this for you?"  Or, "I noticed a need here."  Just as the disciples responded after their encounter at Emmaus, "Was not my heart warmed, how could I have been so blind!"
Hear the Good News, God sends to us people, even angels, who though we might see them one way, as soon as we drop our selfish intentions, realize they are gifts sent from above.  Just as God works in our life and directs our heart to respond to His prompting through the Holy Spirit, the same thing holds true with others.  It is too bad, and I too am embarrassed that I can fall into the very same trap.  I overlook the idea that God might be working in the life of another as they reach-out to me.  We are surrounded by angels, by workers from God, we need to be open to not only the Spirit, but those also called by the Spirit.

Prayer:
Lord, drop the scales from my eyes, that I might see your presence abound in every direction.  Help me lose my selfish ways, that I might be of service to another.  Finally, allow me to be like an angel to another, just as others have been for me.  Thank You for all You have done in my life, and all You will continue to do, through Christ our Lord I pray.  Amen.
