Verse:
“I
am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. As a lily among
brambles, so is my love among maidens."
-- Song
of Solomon 2:1-2
Thought:
After
a long slumber, the limbs, scarred, which look as though they might
be dead begin to bring about life. Thorns make this flora, at times
despised and undesirable. Yet, after the dead of winter,
followed by the life giving rains, something happens. The limbs,
they change form dirty brown to green. Small buds adorn the limbs, surrounded
by luscious green leaves.
The limbs reach out to he sky and reach out as far as they can. The
Rose, majestic and beautiful.
Hear
the Good News, if there is ever a
plant that embodies God's grace, it would be the Rose. Painful
thorns all around the bush, bush the grace is in the flower, the Rose.
Beautiful and elegant, the rose is a sign of love, of passion, it is given
to friends, to families, and it can mean anything from "Hello"
or "I Love You" to "I am Sorry" or "Get
well." Grace, Love, and
Compassion of the bulb amid the pain and sorrow of the thorn.
Why not surprise someone today with a "hello",
"sorry", "love you" or "get well".
Prayer:
Gracious Father, thorns
are and will always be in my life, yet help me to see the beauty that is
also there. Thank
You for all You have done in my
life, and all You will continue to do, through Christ our Lord I pray.
Amen.
